Fulham defender confident of a Premier League return after injury

Zdenek Grygera is optimistic about the future and is anticipating a return to action next season after confirming he will play no further part in Fulham's campaign. The former Juventus defender has been on the sidelines since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament back in November during a Premier League game against Tottenham. After undergoing two major operations, Grygera is far from full fitness but the Czech Republic full-back is in high spirits. InGrygera told the club's official website: "I'm feeling really positive about my knee and my recovery from injury, I had two surgeries with Dr Richard Steadman, one before Christmas and one in February. Dr Steadman told me after the second surgery the recovery should be five or six months."

Five months

Grygera joined Fulham from Juventus last summer and only made five Premier League appearances before injury struck, but the versatile defender remains positive despite his lengthy spell out. The 31-year-old said: "With how I feel right now, I think the maximum will be five months but we will see later on when I start to run. On Thursday, it will be six weeks since my surgery and I'll start to do more in terms of my recovery now." Grygera added: "I'll be doing more on the bike and working on the upper body in the gym, but I feel very good.
