Newcastle United have confirmed Peter Lovenkrands will miss the rest of the season with a thigh injury.
The striker suffered the injury in training on Wednesday and, with his contract expiring in the summer, he could have played his last game for the club.
Alan Pardew had suggested on Thursday that the injury was a bad one and, when Lovenkrands was assessed by the Newcastle medical staff, his fears where confirmed.
The Dane has been mainly used as a substitute this season, starting just four games in all competitions, but scored three times for the Magpies in the Carling Cup before their exit to Blackburn.
