David Dunn says Blackburn will continue to give their all in their bid to beat the drop as relegation would be a 'tragedy' for all concerned.
Rovers were able to take another useful point from their latest Premier League outing, with a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday enough to lift them out of the drop zone.
They are, however, only outside of the bottom three on goal difference and are aware that just two points separate Wigan in 20th from Queens Park Rangers in 16th.
The basement battle looks set to go down to the wire, with all of those still in the mix struggling to establish any kind of consistency.
Dunn is hoping that Blackburn can be the first to surge clear of trouble, with all of those connected with the Ewood Park outfit refusing to contemplate the prospect of life outside the top flight.
"The football club play a massive part in the local community and that's why the football club need to do as well as we can to fight relegation and stay up, because it would be a tragedy if we did go down," the midfielder told
Sky Sports News HD.
"The one thing that we have shown this year is that we don't give up fighting. We have had some real ups and downs this season but one thing is for sure, we always bounce back."

Supporter unrest and endless rounds of speculation regarding Steve Kean's future have done little to aid Blackburn's cause, but they have battled on bravely.
They will need to dig deep into their energy reserves again this weekend, with a trip to fellow strugglers Wolves providing them with an opportunity to push a rival deeper into the mire.
"It's a very important game for us, but we went there last game of the season last year and had a very good result," said Dunn.
"If we can repeat what we did at the end of last season we will be very happy, but we are all aware that it is going to be a very tough game for us and they are going to be scrapping for their lives as well."
