Hughes confirms QPR striker making progress in fitness fight
Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Hughes has confirmed that Heidar Helguson is closing on a return to fitness.
The 34-year-old has been in fine form form for Rangers this season with nine goals from 18 games.
The Icelander has not played for over a month due to a groin injury, but he is now stepping up his fitness bid.
"He's progressing and has upped his training," said Hughes.
"He went to see a specialist this week and has been given the green light to step it up, but he's still a number of weeks away yet."
Fellow striker DJ Campbell is also closing on a return to action following a hamstring problem.
