Aston Villa boss disappointed with his team's lack of goals

Alex McLeish criticised Aston Villa's lack of a ruthless streak as they wasted countless chances in their draw with struggling Blackburn. Charles N'Zogbia's fine strike after 24 minutes was reward for their dominance of the first half, but they failed to extend their advantage. In fairness to the visitors, Paul Robinson rolled back the years to produce some vintage stops, while Stephen Ireland and Gabby Agbonlahor were wasteful in front of goal. David Dunn headed home the equaliser five minutes from full-time to leave the Villa chief rueing his side's profligacy. "In the first half we were excellent and played some great football and carved them open a few times," McLeish told Sky Sports.

Chances

"We had some chances with Robinson making some great saves from Charles, who played very well today and could have had a hat-trick. "He scored a great first goal and we played some really good football. Steve [Kean] kicked their backsides at half-time, made two changes, they bullied us a little bit in the second half and forced us back." He added: "It was a long second half but despite that we had some chances in the second half to put it beyond them. "It was a fantastic save by Robinson and he made another good save from Stephen Ireland and Barry Bannan, but it was difficult to get out of our half in the second half."
