Rovers boss set for vital month ahead

Blackburn boss Steve Kean highlighted the next few weeks as pivotal in Rovers' survival hopes after watching his side go down to a 3-0 defeat at Manchester City. Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko were all on target at the Ethiad Stadium as Rovers struggled in front of goal. The result has left Rovers still sitting in the bottom three but they now have a string of important games ahead of them in March. The Ewood Park side will face - among others - Aston Villa, Wolves, Bolton and West Brom. And Kean told Sky Sports: "These games are very tough - to come to places like this - but we have a very good spell of games coming up. "It's a big month: the games we've got (against) teams around us. We feel a bit depleted right now. "It was important to get through today without any injuries." Kean also believed his side should have had a penalty shortly after City's opening goal when Morten Gamst Pedersen went down under a Nigel de Jong challenge as he was shaping to shoot. He said: "I did (think it was a penalty) and I said that to the referee but we respect his decision. "We felt as though there was contact. But we accept referees can only go with what they see at the time."
