McAnuff expected boss interest

Wolves' reported interest in Reading manager Brian McDermott has come as no surprise to Royals midfielder Jobi McAnuff.

Royals aware that success will spark McDermott speculation

Wolves' reported interest in Reading manager Brian McDermott has come as no surprise to Royals midfielder Jobi McAnuff. The Premier League outfit are in the process of identifying possible successors to the ousted Mick McCarthy. With McDermott having overseen a productive period in Reading's recent history, with the club once again pushing for promotion out of the Championship, his efforts have fallen under the Molineux radar. The Royals boss is now considered to be a leading candidate for the role, along with former Sunderland manager Steve Bruce. Reading would be reluctant to part with their highly-rated coach, but McAnuff appreciates that success will always generate interest.

Magnificent

"Brian has done a magnificent job at Reading," the Royals' club captain told the Reading Post. "His record in this league is second to none so it's not surprising he has been linked with other clubs and at some point you have to expect that. "We have to just get on with things, though. We need to come in, get our work done and crack on. "It's just how football works if you're doing a good job, you have options higher up and someone wants to take you." Reading midfielder Mikele Leigertwood is also hoping that the man who brought him to the Madejski Stadium remains in the managerial hot-seat. He said: "He's done a good job so he should be linked with good jobs. But we don't want him to go."
