Nigel Clough says Derby are planning to hold talks with Sunderland in the next few days regarding their plans for Ryan Noble.

Rams to speak with Sunderland regarding promising striker

Nigel Clough says Derby are planning to hold talks with Sunderland in the next few days regarding their plans for Ryan Noble. The promising forward returned to Pride Park for a second spell in January, but is due to see that agreement come to an end after the home date with Reading on Tuesday. As things stand, the 20-year-old would then be expected to return to the Stadium of Light. Clough, though, is keen to keep Noble with the Rams and is hoping discussions with his parent club will produce a positive outcome.

"We are going to have a chat with both Ryan and Sunderland in the next day or so and see where the land lies," Clough told his club's official website. "It is important to know what Ryan is thinking and Sunderland control the situation because he is their player. They have a few injuries up front at the moment so they may want him back up there, we will have to wait and see. "We would like to keep him around the place if we can as you can't have enough strikers and options to call upon." Since returning for a second temporary spell with Derby, Noble has made one start and a further appearance from the bench for Clough's side.
