Peter Odemwingie: Expects his side to step up to the mark at Molineux

West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie believes his side could make the top ten if they bounce back and improve their home form.

The Baggies' defeat at the hands of Swansea on Saturday left them with only one win in their last seven attempts and sitting 15th with 26 points.

However, it is home form which particularly concerns Odemwingie as Albion have managed to lose eight games at The Hawthorns this season.

And the Nigeria international, who has only netted four goals so far this campaign, maintains that if his side can turn around their record on home turf it could lead to a place in the top half of the Premier League.

"We need to ask ourselves what is happening in our home games and maybe we'd prefer to have a good home record and lose away games, which is more normal," he told the club's official website.

"We will remain positive as we are playing well and we're not doing too badly in the table, we are six points clear of the relegation zone.

"The head coach found it difficult to say anything on Saturday, he said that he doesn't know what to say, we tried to create the chances and were unlucky.

"He also said he believes we are good enough to be in the top ten and, of course, if we can change our home form, we can get there."

Defeat at home once again last weekend was even more difficult to take after taking the lead early into the second half.

Marc-Antoine Fortune gave the hosts an advantage nine minutes into the second period before Swansea levelled just a minute later through Gylfi Sigurdsson before Danny Graham clinched full points for the visitors.

Encouraging

Although points have been dropped at home, Odemwingie has been impressed with Albion's ability to collect wins on the road but is adamant his side must draw on their character and bounce back from defeat when they travel to Wolves on Sunday.

"The most encouraging this is that we are getting points away from home, if we weren't doing that then it would be a different story," he added.

"How we respond against Wolves is the most important thing, that is a big game for us.

"I think the most important thing is to respond on Saturday, but it is also a local derby and we know the importance of the game.

"Going into that game with an attacking mentality might help us get three points."
