Fulham have completed their transfer deadline day swoop for Portsmouth starlet Ryan Williams on a two-and-a-half year deal. Sky Sports revealed earlier on Tuesday the West Londoners were poised to land the youngster. And the Australian teenager has now made the step up into the Premier League by joining the Cottagers for an undisclosed fee. Financially-stricken Pompey were in no position to reject an advance for the talented winger, who is the younger brother of Middlesbrough's Rhys Williams. West Brom and Aston Villa had shown an interest in the 18-year-old, who can play on either wing, but the Cottagers have won the race for his signature. Speaking of his deal on Sky Sports News, Williams said: "It's been a long few days actually, finding out whether or not I was going to be signing. But I've signed a two-and-a-half-year deal here so I'm really happy to be part of the club, it's a good club. "It's such a big move coming to a Premiership club. It's just really for my footballing education and playing more games, playing for the reserves and stuff like that. It's just a big step forward for me." Williams had been training with Martin Jol's side and also played for Fulham's reserves earlier this week. The teenager will link up with compatriot and Socceroos No.1 Mark Schwarzer at Craven Cottager.
