Trotters boss says there is no deal in place for USA international

Owen Coyle has played down reports claiming USA international Tim Ream is to undergo a medical at Bolton, but he admits to being a fan of the defender. The 24-year-old, who is on the books of MLS side the New York Red Bulls, recently took in a trial spell with the Trotters - with Sky Sports revealing that the club were looking to do a deal. They are not the only side to have expressed an interest in his services, though, with West Brom and Arsenal also impressed by his potential. Coyle concedes that there is a chance that Ream could end up at the Reebok Stadium, but he is adamant that no agreement is imminent. "You could reel off 30 or 40 names that we have been linked with. That is the nature of the transfer window," he said.

Bright future

"Tim Ream is a player we had in. He has been at West Brom. They were very keen on him as well and Arsenal tried to sign him in the summer. "He is an outstanding young player. A US international, 24, and no doubt destined for a very bright future. "Whether anything transpires with Bolton time will tell." Meanwhile, Coyle has revealed that Jussi Jaaskelainen has an outside chance of making Bolton's trip to Manchester United on Saturday, with the Finnish goalkeeper close to shaking off a thigh strain. He said: "Jussi is responding to treatment with his thigh knock, although Saturday may just come too soon."
