Mark Hughes will hold further discussions with Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday after a first round of talks over the manager's job 'went really well'.
Hughes quickly emerged as the favourite to take the role after Neil Warnock's departure over the weekend and he arrived at Loftus Road on Monday to meet with club bosses.
QPR are hoping to make an appointment swiftly and Hughes was happy with the initial negotiations, but revealed as he left the ground that he still had a lot of thinking to do.
"Talks are still progressing. I'm obviously interested in what everyone here has had to say," the former Manchester City boss said on
Sky Sports News.
"It is an interesting project they are talking about, but there is a lot more to discuss yet and we will wait until the morning and have further discussions."
Ambition
Asked whether it was important to get the matter resolved before the Newcastle game at the weekend, Hughes made it clear that an announcement was not imminent.
"We are not at that point at this moment," he said.
"We are still discussing the ideas the club have and I have obviously got to think very carefully about what has been said overnight."
Having questioned Fulham's ambition when he left Craven Cottage last summer, Hughes admits one of his main considerations is whether QPR are a club looking to go places.
He added: "It went really well today. We still have to discuss a number of things.
"There are a number of factors. I've got to be clear in my mind that this is the right decision for me and QPR have to be comfortable in their own mind as well.
"I'm an ambitious manager and I hope that the next job I have the club can match those ambitions."
