Blackburn's in-form striker wants Rovers fans to show their backing

Blackburn striker Yakubu has called on the club's supporters to give manager Steve Kean a break and get behind the team ahead of Monday's Premier League clash with Stoke. Rovers run out at Ewood Park with four vital points from their last two games - a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Liverpool and a fantastic 3-2 success at Manchester United. And Yakubu wants Rovers fans - who have tormented Kean in recent weeks and campaigned for his sacking - to focus on showing their support for the team. "They should give him a break and support the team. That is what we want," said Yakubu. "At home it's 'He has to go, he has to go' but things have changed. This is a fresh start.

Looking forward

"We are looking forward to the game with Stoke. Hopefully, the fans can get behind the team." Yakubu, who has smashed 12 league goals in 14 games for the Lancashire side, is full of praise for Kean, adding: "He believes in the players - he never puts pressure on us, even when we are losing. "He tells us 'Enjoy yourselves and give everything'. So the players are playing for the manager and the club." Rovers - who are three points from safety - are priced at 6-4 with Sky Bet to take all three points against the eighth-placed Potters.
