Alan Pardew has declared he is not willing to let striker Peter Lovenkrands leave Newcastle United in January.

Newcastle boss insists the striker is staying put

Alan Pardew has declared he is not willing to let striker Peter Lovenkrands leave Newcastle United in January. Lovenkrands has only started one Premier League game this season with the likes of Leon Best and Shola Ameobi being preferred in attack. The former Rangers hit-man revealed earlier in the week that he would instruct his agent to look for another club, despite the prospect of a new contract at St James' Park. However, Magpies boss Pardew has quashed any talk of him leaving, insisting the front-man still has a role to play at the club. Pardew told the Evening Chronicle: "There is no chance of loan. Peter is a figure we love here. "He is very important to us."
