Defender to stay with FC Dallas

FC Dallas have announced that George John will be staying with the Major League Soccer side after Blackburn decided not to finalise a deal for the defender. The 24-year-old, who can also play in midfield, had been identified as a possible transfer target by Rovers manager Steve Kean. Kean has admitted he is hoping to add to his squad before the transfer window closes on Wednesday, having already brought in the likes of David Goodwillie, Radosav Petrovic and Simon Vuckevic. But FC Dallas say there will be no deal for John at the current time, with the player set to remain at Pizza Hut Park. FC Dallas president and chief executive Doug Quinn told the club's official website: "Despite mutual interest, Blackburn Rovers and George John have decided not to enter into a contract "Blackburn had significant interest in acquiring George, however, for the time being, they decided not to finalise the deal. "We are excited to have a player of George's calibre back at FC Dallas."
