Serbia midfielder keen to catch McCarthy's eye

Nenad Milijas claims to be happy at Wolves, with no plans to leave, but admits he is hoping to hold down a more regular role. The Serbia international moved to Molineux in the summer of 2009, following the club's promotion to the Premier League. Since then he has become an important member of the first-team squad, making almost 50 top-flight appearances. He has, however, been unable to hold down a permanent place in Mick McCarthy's starting XI. His technical ability is not in question, but there are occasions when fixtures call for a different approach in the heart of midfield. Milijas believes he is now fully adjusted to the demands of English football, though, and claims he is ready to become a mainstay in the side. He has played down reports suggesting he could be lured away to Spain, with it his intention to make his mark in the Premier League.

Opinion

"It is only logical that I hope to have more playing time this season," the 28-year-old told Sportske. "This is my third year in England and now I feel that I have adapted to the style of play. I also believe that I have given my best in every game I have played. "My performances have been good, and that is not just my opinion but that of many respected individuals. Because of this, I am hoping to become an important part of the starting XI. "I am happy at Wolves and I don't believe I made a mistake in moving here. "I heard someone say that I could be playing a more important role in Spain, but I don't regret anything. "There is still a lot of time left in my career and maybe one day I will play in Spain. Then we will be able to see which country suits me more."
