Japan U19 international tipped for a big future by Arsenal boss

Arsenal's Japanese teenager Ryo Miyaichi has been granted a work permit to play for the club this season. The 18-year-old arrived at the club last January and was loaned to Feyenoord to help him get acclimatised to the European game. Miyaichi has featured in all Arsenal's pre-season games outside the UK, but will now be considered for a starting berth once the season commences. "We are absolutely delighted that Ryo has been granted a work permit," Arsene Wenger told the club's official website.

Signing

"This is almost like a new signing for us, as we weren't completely sure we would be given the authorisation. "Ryo worked extremely hard in pre-season and performed well in the matches in Asia, Germany and Portugal." The Japan Under-19 international has all the traits that Wenger looks for in his players, and he feels he will be a welcome addition to the squad. He added: "Ryo has natural technical ability. He has good balance and phenomenal pace, and his passing and crossing is consistently of a high level. He is a very exciting player."
