New signing suffers broken leg in training

Bolton Wanderers new boy Tyrone Mears is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking his leg in training. Mears only joined Bolton on a three-year contract from Burnley last week as part of a double deal which also saw Chris Eagles arrive at the Reebok Stadium. However, the full-back will now miss the start of the new Premier League campaign following the injury picked up in training. The Trotters have yet to confirm how long Mears will be sidelined for and expect it to be a further month before being able to provide a more accurate estimate. "Ty went in for a challenge and unfortunately suffered the injury," Bolton boss Owen Coyle told the club's official website. "It was desperately unlucky for him and we will make sure that he is fully supported in his rehabilitation. "He will go for a check and an assessment in a month and that will indicate more accurately the timescale for his recovery." Mears is the second Bolton player to suffer a broken leg in less than a week after Chung-yong Lee was ruled out for nine months following the injury he picked up in a friendly against Newport County last Saturday.
