Mark Hughes was not surprised by the performances of Eidur Gudjohnsen and Bobby Zamora at Sunderland.

Fulham boss also targets nine points from final three matches

Mark Hughes was not surprised by the star performances of Eidur Gudjohnsen and Bobby Zamora in Fulham's 3-0 win at Sunderland. The strike duo did not get on the scoresheet at the Stadium of Light, where Gael Kakuta and two Simon Davies goals did the damage, but were still hugely influential. An injury-hit Sunderland could not cope with the movement and hold-up play of Zamora and Gudjohnsen, which allowed Fulham to earn just a second away win of the season in the Premier League. Hughes was delighted with the display in the North East after his side moved onto 45 points and he expected outings from January loan signing Gudjohnsen and Zamora, who has missed a majority of the season due to injury. "When you get the ball to Eidur and Bobby, given their ability, they will cause anybody problems," Hughes told Sky Sports.

Maximum

"It was difficult for Sunderland, obviously they have got injuries and are struggling for strikers themselves. "But even so, the way we played today, certainly in the second half, we would have gone away with the win." Having been considered among the relegation candidate less than a month ago, Fulham remain on course to meet Hughes' target of a top-half finish. The Welshman now wants nine points from remaining matches against Liverpool, Birmingham and Arsenal to ensure a top-10 position. "We have still got games and we will try and do our best in each of them," said Hughes. "If we get maximum points out of those games we should be very much in that top 10, which is where we think we deserve to be."
