Spurs defender calls for turnaround

Vedran Corluka insists Tottenham must return to winning ways if they want to secure a second consecutive top-four finish this season. Spurs have enjoyed an impressive debut UEFA Champions League campaign this term, overcoming the likes of Inter and AC Milan to reach the quarter-finals, where they will face Spanish giants Real Madrid. But Harry Redknapp's men have failed to find a Premier League win since their European victory over the Rossoneri at the San Siro last month, losing to Blackpool and drawing with Wolves and West Ham. Croatia international Corluka knows they must turn things around if they want to bring Champions League football to White Hart Lane for the second successive year. "We just need to start winning games again," Corluka said in the Daily Star. "We need to get three points if we want to keep up our top-four challenge. "We have a lot of games in April and we need to start another run going now. Our focus on each match shouldn't be difficult. "We have to enjoy these games. To play for a place in the top four and the Champions League is a great thing for everyone at the club."

Progression

Defender Corluka feels Spurs' progression over the last few years has been astonishing, adding: "We have to remember where we were three years ago. It's incredible really. "If you had told me then we would be challenging for the top four and in the last eight of the Champions League I would have thought you were crazy." Tottenham's recent slump has left them outside the top four and four points adrift of nearest rivals Manchester City, albeit with a game in hand. Manager Redknapp believes City now have the edge over Spurs in the race for the fourth Champions League spot, saying: "Most people's money would be on Manchester City. "They are the favourites and they should be. I think the Tottenham squad is not really big in comparison to a lot of others."
