Rovers midfielder confident safety can be secured

Brett Emerton hopes Blackburn's prior experience of relegation battles will stand them in good stead this term. Rovers have endured an untimely wobble of late, collecting just one point from their last six Premier League fixtures. They now sit just a solitary point above the drop zone with nine games of the 2010/11 campaign remaining. A survival battle would appear to be on the cards, with their top-flight status hanging precariously in the balance. Rovers have, however, recovered from a similar position in the past, with a productive run-in last season seeing them end the campaign in 10th spot.

High note

Emerton hopes a similar finish can be achieved this time around, with everyone associated with the club prepared to give their all to the collective cause. "I think about the times when we have come up against it and really needed to win games, we have been able to do that," the Australian midfielder told the club's official website. "Hopefully this season will be no different and we can string a few wins together and finish the season on a high. "I think we know what is needed to be done and we feel we can do that and get the results we need."
