Sky Bet have suspended betting on Andy Carroll leaving Tyneside after Liverpool reportedly agreed £35m fee for the Newcastle striker.
With Fernando Torres on the verge of a £50m British record transfer move to Chelsea, Liverpool have moved swiftly by lining up Carroll as a replacement for the World Cup winner.
As ever, Sky Bet's ttransfer betting odds have been changing by the minute with Torres 1/4 to leave and 5/2 to stay at Anfield. The online bookmaker had earlier seen a 4-figure bet on him to go to Chelsea at 4/6.
Carroll had earlier been backed into odds-on 4/6 to go to Liverpool from 16/1 this morning.
Sky Bet's Helen Jacob said: "With so many conflicting stories, very few people must really know whether no not Torres will still be a Liverpool player by the end of the day.
"The 1/5 for Torres to go looked very short and punters clearly thought the value was for him to stay at 4/1. It looks now to be an each of two market now with punters equally undecided and bets are coming in for both outcomes in equal amounts."
Charlie Adam, meanwhile, is now being linked with a shock move to Manchester United. The play-maker is now 1/4 to move to Old Trafford with Liverpool now 4/1 shots
