Serbian hopes to prove himself at Anfield

Liverpool's Serbian outcast Milan Jovanovic insists he wants to stay with the club. Jovanovic joined Liverpool in the summer on a free transfer from Standard Liege. He was signed by Rafa Benitez, but never got to play under the Spaniard with Roy Hodgson taking charge. Hodgson used him sparingly, and when given his chance he has rarely shown many of his capabilities. New Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish handed him a shock start in their defeat at Blackpool, but he was then not involved for the Merseyside derby last week. Jovanovic has been constantly linked with a move away from the club, but he insists he is more than happy to stay at Anfield.

Fighter

"I know that I am quite cheap for the club as they got me as a free agent, but I really don't like the media stories over my loaning elsewhere," Jovanovic told Serbian daily Sport. "I want to stay at Liverpool. I am a fighter by nature and I want to earn my place here, I will do everything to prove my value." On his future he added: "I have no idea as the club didn't inform me about any interest in me going on loan. "From the clubs mentioned in the press, I don't want to go to Trabzon in Turkey, while on Fiorentina speculation, no-one had contacted me from there. "I cannot rule out a possible loan until the end of the season, but as the club is not mentioning it, I really hope that I will stay."
