Italian club have Latics striker on their radar

Genoa have confirmed they are chasing the signature of Wigan Athletic striker Mauro Boselli. The Argentina forward, who arrived at the DW Stadium from native outfit Estudiantes last summer, has failed to make an impact with the Latics, scoring just once in 12 appearances for the Premier League club. Boselli's lack of form has prompted speculation of a loan move for the 25-year-old, with Italian club Bari understood to be interested in securing his services. And now Serie A rivals Genoa have announced the former Boca Juniors man is their primary target in this month's transfer window. "I like Boselli, he is our aim," Genoa owner Enrico Preziosi told Primocanale. "He's an interesting player in perspective. "He played with (Rodrigo) Palacio (at Boca Juniors), they know each other. "We will try to seize the best opportunity."

No interest

Meanwhile, Preziosi has ruled out a swoop for Lazio midfielder Mark Bresciano, insisting there is no place for him in the Genoa squad. He added: "We are not interested, we wouldn't know where to put him. Right now our priority is the striker and we cannot expect much." Genoa sit 13th in the Serie A table following a mixed start to the campaign, and Preziosi is hoping to revamp the side this month. He added: "We want to dismantle the old house and rebuild another that can give satisfaction to our fans, not to repeat the mistakes for which I take responsibility."
