St Etienne coach Christophe Galtier is contemplating whether to make a move for Arsenal's Gilles Sunu.
The teenage striker is yet to make the breakthrough with the Gunners, having been restricted to just a handful of senior appearances so far.
A lack of first-team opportunities saw him loaned to Derby last season, and he impressed during his short time in the Championship.
A switch to his native France is now being touted, with St Etienne among those to have expressed an interest in the talented 19-year-old.
Galtier admits the youngster is one of those under consideration as he puts transfer plans in place, but admits he may decide to go after a more experienced head.
"We have been following Sunu for a while," he said.
"I can also confirm that I hope to have the right-sided midfielder I have been after signed up by next week.
"It is important to realise that we already have a lot of young players, so I would favour a more experienced player than Sunu."
