Landon Donovan would welcome a return to Everton, but admits he must be wary of pushing himself too hard.
The United States international took in a successful loan stint with the Toffees last season, arriving in the New Year following the end of the MLS campaign.
The Los Angeles Galaxy forward is being strongly linked with a similar deal this term, with a switch to somewhere in Europe expected to be on the cards.
Donovan admits he would favour a second spell at Goodison Park, having thoroughly enjoyed his time in England first time around.
He does, however, concede that he must listen to his body before making any decision.
Having starred at the World Cup and helped the Galaxy into the MLS play-offs, he accepts that it may be time for him to take a rest.
"I want to go back - how could I not after last time?" Donovan said on a possible return to Everton.
"But I have to be responsible to my body.
"It is 50-50 at the moment."
