Blackpool manager Ian Holloway admits he is in the dark over the future of David Vaughan.
The Wales international is out of contract in the summer and the Seasiders are hoping to retain his services.
But Holloway knows that, given Vaughan's good form recently, there could be bids for the 27-year-old midfielder during the January transfer window.
And the Tangerines boss is aware that Pool may struggle to match what other offers are on the table for the former Crewe trainee.
"I have spoken to David and I need to talk to my chairman to see where we are, but I don't know where that is going to go," he said.

"What he might get somewhere else and what we might pay him might be a difficult scenario."
Vaughan signed for Blackpool in August 2008 after a brief stint with Spanish club Real Sociedad.
He has started 13 of their 14 league games this season, scoring once, and Holloway made it clear he wants Vaughan to remain at Bloomfield Road.
"He is an incredible player and a wonderful person," he said.
"I am very fortunate to have him here. I would like that to be a long time.
"David is a joy to work with. Every day is exactly the same. There is quality - left foot, right foot. He hardly ever does anything that is sub-standard.
"He is playing so well - I wish him well whatever happens, whatever way it goes."
Fine start
Vaughan has played a major role in the Tangerines defying the odds at the start of their first Premier League campaign, winning five of their opening 14 games to lie 12th in the table.
"I think the whole country is buying in to what is happening here," added Holloway.
"They keep looking at our unique colour, the way the lads are playing and the goals they are scoring.
"It is just great because they are genuine people here and they have brought me back to life. I am absolutely loving it."
