Trotters winger could return against Spurs

Bolton boss Owen Coyle is still hoping that Martin Petrov will be in contention to face Tottenham on Saturday. The Bulgarian winger missed last weekend's 1-0 defeat to Liverpool with a hamstring injury, but has taken positive strides in his recovery this week. Having returned to full training, he has given himself a chance of facing Spurs in a lunchtime meeting at the Reebok Stadium. Coyle will welcome Petrov back with open arms should he prove his fitness, as the Scot knows competition for places is imperative if his Trotters side are to continue making progress this term. He told the club's official website: "Obviously Martin's hamstring was tight last week and he tried to train a couple of days prior to the match, but it wasn't responding.

No rush

"We didn't want to rush it and rule him out for four to six weeks, so we left him alone and didn't risk him against Liverpool. "He came into training yesterday (Wednesday) and we will continue to look at him with regards to the weekend. "It will give me a selection headache but that is what I want and I believe that I have more than 11 players who could start the game. "If the selection headache is because people aren't doing well then there is a problem. "But we will pick the best team we feel will be able to go and win the match against Tottenham."
