Villa stopper faces another fight

Aston Villa defender Habib Beye admits he continues to be frustrated after his latest injury setback. The right-back's career at Villa Park has failed to take off following his move from Newcastle in August last year due to injuries and a loss of form. But the 33-year-old has recently enjoyed a run of three games in the first team following a hamstring problem sustained by Luke Young. However, Beye picked up an ankle injury against Burnley in the Carling Cup last week and while it is not a major blow he now faces a fight to get back into the side. "I just tweaked my ankle in the first half against Burnley and it was swelling a little but it's not going to be a big problem," Beye told the Birmingham Mail. With Young fit again, Beye knows even when he is fit he faces a challenge to get back into boss Gerard Houllier's plans. "Luke has done really well and then he got injured and the gaffer gave me my chance," he added. "But you need to play six or seven games in a row - that gives you your fitness."
