United full-back admits side must cut out 'silly mistakes'

Defender Patrice Evra remains confident Manchester United can recover from their indifferent start. The France full-back is aware of the media attention on Old Trafford at the moment with the Wayne Rooney saga off the pitch and the club dropping points on it. Although Sir Alex Ferguson's side are still unbeaten this season, the Red Devils have seen 10 points slip away after drawing five of their opening eight Premier League games. Evra, 29, believes the current problems on the pitch are of United's own making and is something they must address quickly, with Ferguson's side travelling to Stoke on Sunday in a crucial fixture. Evra told the Manchester Evening News: "Anyone can talk about Manchester United but nobody has beaten us. "The problem is just Manchester United because no team has played better than us. "People may think I am crazy to say that but it is true. We have played many games and been 2-0 up and then drawn or made things difficult.

Strong team

"The problem is just us. When we defend like we can we show we are a strong team. "No-one can tell me we have played badly against anyone. I believe that. I think we are playing well. We are just doing some silly mistakes. That is the true problem. "The situation with Wayne Rooney is something the boss and the player need to talk about because we are just focused on our game and bringing back the right spirit and the winning mentality. "The problem is Manchester United, not the other teams. Everyone understands that. Against Bursaspor we showed we are a strong team. "If we play and don't concede goals, play with the right spirit and the winning mentality. "Manchester United will be top of the league. I am confident we can do that. "We can be the Manchester United everyone wants to see."
