West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo admits Cameroon midfielder Somen Tchoyi will not make his Baggies bow for several weeks.
The 27-year-old switched from Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg earlier this month for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal, with the option of another year in the club's favour.
But Di Matteo believes it could still be a number of weeks before the player is match-fit.
The Italian told his club's official website: "Somen is a bit behind fitness-wise.
"He has been travelling a lot to get his move sorted out so it will take him a while to get up to speed.
"He's unconditioned at the moment. It's difficult to say if it will take two, three or four weeks."
