Skysports.com understands Bournemouth have blocked a bid from Blackpool for Brett Pitman.
The Cherries striker has started the 2010/11 campaign in red-hot form and bagged a hat-trick in Saturday's 5-1 drubbing of Peterborough.
He has been able to carry his fine form over from last season, when he notched 26 times en route to helping Bournemouth to promotion.
At just 22 years old, he is considered to be a potential star of the future and is tipped to make the grade at a higher level sooner rather than later.
Premier League newcomers Blackpool had been hoping to hand him that opportunity and have tested Bournemouth's resolve with an opening bid.
They have, however, seen that approach knocked back and have been prevented from opening talks with Pitman.
The Cherries are reluctant to part with their prized asset and club chairman Eddie Mitchell has stated that he will not part with the youngster without a fight.
He has, however, admitted that he will not stand in Pitman's way should an opportunity which benefits both parties arise.
