Defender Tal Ben-Haim is set to join West Ham, according to Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill.
Skysports.com revealed in mid-July that the Premier League Hammers had agreed a deal for the Israel defender, but the agreement has still to be officially confirmed.
Cotterill thinks that the fine details of Ben-Haim's personal terms have required additional discussions to delay the transfer.
But he expects the former Chelsea player, who was in the stands for Saturday's pre-season win over Fulham, to follow ex-Portsmouth boss Avram Grant to Upton Park.
Cotterill said in The News: "I feel sorry for Tal. One minute he's here and the next he's not.
"I think he's on his way to West Ham and he will go there.
"There's a lot of to-ing and fro-ing going on with his terms, though."
Meanwhile, Cotterill has confirmed that both goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown and former Burnley defender Stephen Jordan have been offered contracts following successful trial periods.
"Jamie and Stephen have both been made offers now, so it's with them, really," said Cotterill.
