Duo target permanent deals at Wigan

Wigan trialists Sekou Baradji and Laurent Merlin are hoping to impress during their time at the DW Stadium. The French duo, who have been with the Latics for five days, are expecting manager Roberto Martinez to make a decision on their future by the end of the week. Midfielder Baradji, a former West Ham and Reading player, is desperate to earn a place in the squad, despite apparent interest from other clubs. "I hope to do well and get a contract here," Baradji told skysports.com. "Being a free agent can also make it simple, but I've not heard anything from the gaffer yet. "Hopefully he has seen things that pleased him. I know it is hard to impress but I am doing my best to reach my goal of playing in the Premier League. "Even though there is interest from elsewhere, I want to stay here and win a place in the squad. From there I can challenge for a place in the team." Fellow midfielder Merlin is also looking to cement a spot at the Premier League club, adding: "I have been very impressed here and hope to be part of the Wigan family."
