A number of Portsmouth players are resigned to the club's fate following their end-of-season defeat in the FA Cup final.
Pompey were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday to end their campaign on a disappointing note, with Kevin-Prince Boateng missing a penalty with the score goalless.
The debt-ridden club face a year in the Championship next term and manager Avram Grant is expected to leave, while certain players may be forced out of Fratton Park to reduce the wage bill.
Defender Steve Finnan said: "No one knows where the manager's future lies.
"But he wanted to thank us all for the way we have stuck together and got to Wembley against all the odds.
"It has been such a difficult time for everyone at the club and the manager has had to deal with so many problems.
"Players were sold when he didn't want them to go and he has had to deal with a lot of injuries and owners.
"It was nice to get together like that. I would imagine at least half of this club will be gone by next season.
"It doesn't matter so much for the likes of myself. I'm 34. But it's difficult for the younger lads. They need to sort out their futures as soon as possible.
"I am now out of contract and I don't think that I'll be at Portsmouth next season."
Bounce back
Portuguese defender Ricardo Rocha added: "I just hope Portsmouth can bounce back. It's a great club and a great city, with fantastic fans.
"They deserve to be in the Premier League. But for that to happen they need new owners and there is still no sign of that.
"I still think Portsmouth should be allowed to play in the Europa League next season, as we have done it on the pitch.
"Avram Grant has been a brilliant manager. It is impossible to have worse conditions than he has had here."
Meanwhile, midfielder Michael Brown is expecting Grant to move to West Ham this summer.
"We've all heard the rumours that Avram will take the West Ham job and, maybe, that's why all the fans stayed at the end to thank him," he remarked.
"Of the team which started against Chelsea, there may be four or five of us still here in August.
"I'm still under contract so, unless I hear otherwise, I'll be back for pre-season training on July 1."
