Forward reportedly offered trial by Birmingham

South Africa striker Katlego Mphela admits he is flattered after being linked with a move to Birmingham City. The Mamelodi Sundowns forward has reportedly been offered a trial by the Premier League side after this summer's World Cup in his home country. Mphela was scheduled to meet up with the Blues earlier in the year but international commitments and visa problems prevented him from doing so, but the 25-year-old is pleased with the St Andrews possibility. "It is always a great pleasure to have good clubs looking at you when you perform and it means they appreciate what I have got to offer as a player," Mphela told Football365.co.za. "I would love to go to England because it is one of the toughest leagues in the world and it will be a great honour for me to go there for trials and get a contract." The former Strasbourg and Reims marksman established himself as South Africa's first-choice striker in 2009 and has made 24 appearances for the national team, scoring nine times. He also won the domestic golden boot after bagging 17 goals in 30 league appearances for Sundowns, and could shine on the biggest stage of all this summer.
