Midfielder decides it is time for a fresh challenge
Veteran midfielder Lee Carsley has confirmed he will be leaving Birmingham City at the end of the season.
Carsley joined Blues from Everton two years ago, but has decided to move on to another club in the summer.
He was a regular when Birmingham won promotion from the Championship last season, but has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League this term.
The 36-year-old's last appearance for Blues was in the FA Cup at the start of the year and he has not been involved in a League game since early November.
The former Republic of Ireland international has also been sidelined by an ankle knock and has decided now is the right time to leave St Andrews.
Two fantastic years
In a statement, Carsley said: "I would like to announce that I will be leaving Birmingham City Football Club at the end of this season.
"I came to the club to help them back into the Premiership and then to stay there.
"I have had two fantastic years at the Blues and I would like to thank the management and the fans for all their support.
"I will now look to help another club achieve success and I relish another challenge."
The former Derby County and Blackburn Rovers midfielder has previously expressed a determination to carry on playing and his experience is unlikely to see him short of offers in the summer.
