Serbian keeper hoping to earn Latics deal

Vladimir Stojkovic has revealed his ambition to earn a permanent move to Wigan over the summer. The Serbia international is coming towards the end of a six-month loan deal at the DW Stadium. He joined the Latics from Sporting Lisbon during the January transfer window, having struggled to make an impression in Portugal. The 26-year-old has found first-team opportunities hard to come by in England, but that has not dampened his spirits. He is still hoping Roberto Martinez will offer him a full-time deal with Wigan, dashing reports in his homeland suggesting he has grown disillusioned with life on the sidelines.

Rumours

"In Serbia there were rumours that I don't want to stay at Wigan, but that is not true," Stojkovic told Sportski Zurnal. "My quotes were wrongly translated. I never told anyone that I would like to go somewhere else. I really don't know why someone is always making up stories about me. "I told one journalist that I was sad because I couldn't show more of what I can do in a Wigan shirt, but I really want to stay in England and at Wigan. "I haven't spoken to coach Martinez yet, but I think we will sit down in the next few days. "I feel happy at Wigan so I hope we will still be able to work together next season."
