Hull shot-stopper calls for team to follow skipper's example

Hull City goalkeeper Boaz Myhill has called on his team to follow captain George Boateng's example in their fight against relegation. The Dutchman was knocked unconscious in a brutal challenge with Tuncay Sanli and had to be taken to hospital with a severe amount of blood in his mouth during his side's 2-0 defeat by Stoke on Saturday. Boateng was released from hospital on Sunday after scans and X-rays revealed there to be no serious damage after being caught full in the face to prevent the Turk from connecting with an overhead kick. Tigers boss Ian Dowie will be glad to see his skipper back as soon as possible and Myhill was also full of praise for Boateng's attitude and spirit, despite the initial horror of the challenge. "There was blood all over the place. It wasn't really nice to see. It's never good to see a friend and team-mate in such a distressing situation," Myhill said.

Brave

"George is as brave as a lion and that's why he's had the career he has had. "He is a leader and he will put his head where there is danger. That's why he is our captain." Hull's defeat leaves them a point adrift of 17th placed West Ham with a crucial clash against Burnley at the KC Stadium to come next, and Myhill urged his team to take a leaf out of Boateng's book if they are to survive. "It is up to the rest of us to follow his lead now," he added. "Someone has to step up to the plate because games are running out and the match with Burnley coming up is massive."
