Latics boss expects more bite from front line this weekend

Roberto Martinez has backed new strike duo Victor Moses and Marcelo Moreno to spice up Wigan's attack. The Latics' front-line has been suffering a crisis of confidence of late - none more so than the miserable FA Cup exit to Notts County at the DW Stadium on Tuesday. The Premier League strugglers spurned a host of chances to allow League Two County to pull off a shock 2-0 away win - their second home defeat without scoring in as many games. But Martinez - who was unable to play his deadline day signings midweek as they were ineligible for the fourth-round replay - believes his new arrivals can help Wigan turn fortunes around when they travel to Sunderland at the weekend. "They will help us because obviously we are going to have good competition up front now," Martinez said of Moses and Moreno. "I think it has been quite clear to see that we have been very low on confidence in front of goal. "You look at the chances that we had (against Notts County) and the chances that we had on Saturday and you need to score goals when you create those sorts of chances. "But the two players are going to come in and give us a bit more strength and in that respect it will improve that department."
