Parma admit midfielder McDonald Mariga could sign for an unnamed Premier League side on January transfer deadline day.
The 22-year-old Kenya international is thought to be a target for Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini after his impressive displays in Serie A this term.
However, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has been linked with the player in the past and is believed to be in the market for a midfielder.
Parma, who bought the player from Helsingborgs in 2008, insist a move to England is close but work permit issues are holding up proceedings.
"We hope that this case will be resolved," said Parma's general manager Pietro Leonardi on Monday.
He added: "We should have some update from England briefly."
Parma are thought to be awaiting confirmation from the FA of Mariga's legitimate ability to play in the country and hope a deal can be struck before Monday's European deadline closes.
Mariga is under contract with the Serie A club until June 2012 and has featured nine times in the league this season.
