Juventus and their beleaguered boss Ciro Ferrara are putting on a united front as speculation over his future gathers pace.

The Old Lady have endured a season to forget and currently sit 13 points off Serie A pacesetters Inter Milan.

A 1-0 defeat in Chievo on Sunday has done little to ease the pressure on Ferrara, but he is refusing to buckle under the strain.

Loath to make excuses for his side's struggles of late, Ferrara is confident that results will soon improve.

"It's a negative period and I won't try to find an excuse," he told Sky Italia.

"We haven't had big moments (in the game) but have given everything.

"In this period I have not many choices to make. I can only try to evaluate the negative aspects and move on.

"Sure, from a morale point of view, the players are down because results have not arrived.

"But I'm confident, I know it's difficult to say this, but it's how I feel."

When quizzed about what the club's position is with regards his place at the helm, Ferrara admitted that was in the hands of others.

"I can't know what their analysis is. They must evaluate everything, the team and the coach to find a solution.

"Should the problem be the coach the club will have to evaluate.

"But directly in this sense there has been nothing said to me."

Juve official Roberto Bettega insists the Turin giants are not looking to make scapegoats at this stage of the season.

"The group is compact and we will see. We have a tour de force in the next few days and let's hope also to see the return of a few important players.

"We will try to face it then. I don't think there will be arrivals (in January) because we have important players already."

Juventus' woes have been exacerbated with the news defender Zdenek Grygera fractured his nose in the defeat to Chievo.
