City boss not looking for left-back cover

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has played down suggestions he is ready to sign Cristian Ansaldi. Reports have suggested that Mancini had agreed a £6million deal with Rubin Kazan for the Argentine left-back. The 23-year-old, who has one cap for his country, is very highly rated and was said to be set to seal a move early next week. But Mancini insists that with Wayne Bridge set to return from injury he has no need for further reinforcements. When asked if he was interested in Ansaldi, he replied:"No, in that position we have Bridge. "In seven days he will have recovered." Bridge has been sidelined with a knee injury for over a month, but he is set to return to action. Mancini has been linked with several defenders including the likes of Ivan Cordoba and Simon Kjaer, but with Nedum Onuoha and Joleon Lescott due back from injury soon the Italian admits he may not make a move at all. "Now we have time to see how other players have recovered. Then we will decide [whether to buy more.]," he said.
