Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester City target Patrick Vieira has played his last game for Inter.

Inter coach bids farewell to midfielder

Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester City target Patrick Vieira has played his last game for the club. The France international, who hinted earlier on Wednesday that he was set to seal a move to Eastlands, played the full 90 minutes of Inter's 1-0 Serie A success over Chievo. Mourinho told reporters after the match that the former Arsenal ace was now heading for the exit door and expects him to return to the Premier League. City boss Roberto Mancini has been strongly linked with a move for the talented midfielder, who he knows well from his stint at the helm of the Nerazzurri. Vieira is eager to play regular football over the coming months as he looks to secure a place in France's World Cup squad for the finals in South Africa.

Special mention

Mourinho told Sky Italia: "I should give a special mention to Vieira, who certainly played his last game with us. "I don't know where he will go, maybe to England which he likes a lot, but we should thank him for what he has done in these years at Inter. "The club decided not to renew his contract, which is coming to an end, and to accept the offer of another club. "I will miss him but I don't have the right to demand anything from a club who has done so much for me."
