Wolves defender Stephen Ward has been rocked by the news that his knee injury is worse than first feared and could sideline him for up to 12 weeks.
The Premier League left-back was expected to miss just two to three weeks after knee surgery, but the operation revealed cartilage damage which could now rule the Irishman out for up to three months.
"Given we were going into the international break, I was maybe thinking I might only miss one game but that's not now going to be the case," the 24-year-old told the club's official website.
"But there's nothing I can do about it and I've just got to start thinking about the rehab and get on with it.
"If there is an upside, then I've spoken to the medical team and they're happy that the cartilage has been repaired - which is good for me in the long term.
"It's just a case of resting up and then coming back and getting stuck into the rehab so I can be fit again as soon as possible."
