Bolton assistant manager Chris Evans has defended the loan signing of Croatian striker Ivan Klasnic.
Klasnic will spend the rest of the season at the Reebok Stadium and the Trotters could then try to bring him in on a permanent basis from Nantes.
Bolton have struggled for goals so far this term but Evans insists Klasnic could provide the solution to the problem.
"Klasnic isn't someone who has just come onto the radar," Evans said in the Manchester Evening News.
"We first showed an interest in him during the transfer window of January 2008.
"His record speaks for itself and he has never ever scored less than one goal every three games. Prior to Monday night, he had scored 87 in 113 starts."
