Sky Sports News understands Portsmouth have bid for Cardiff City forward Ross McCormack.
The Premier League side are looking for a new striker following Peter Crouch's recent move to Tottenham Hotspur.
McCormack, who has also been linked with Hull City, has been identified by Pompey boss Paul Hart and an offer has now been made.
It has previously been reported that the Scotland international has handed in a transfer request with Championship outfit Cardiff due a desire to play top-flight football.
McCormack's agent, Willie McKay, has told skysports.com in the past that the 22-year-old has a gentleman's agreement with the Bluebirds which allows a move to the Premier League.
However, Cardiff will not allow the striker, who scored 23 goals last season to earn a new deal, to leave if the price is not right.
