Adel Taarabt's proposed loan move to Malaga has been put on hold as the club chase other targets.
The Tottenham midfielder was expected to complete a switch to the Primera Liga outfit over the next few days, but those plans have broken down.
Talks between Spurs and their Spanish counterparts have stalled and Malaga boss Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz is now looking to turn his attention elsewhere before reigniting his interest in Taarabt.
"Other players are more of a priority for us at the moment," Muniz said.
"Malaga need a right winger and after that we can study the subject of Taarabt."
Reports in Spain suggest Espanyol's Valdo is now top of Malaga's wish list, with a loan move widely touted.
It is, however, still believed that a move for Morocco international Taarabt will be made once other areas have been addressed.
