Arsenal star Andrey Arshavin says there is no truth in reports he could join Barcelona this summer.

There have been rumours that Arshavin is unhappy with the taxation laws in England, and agent Dennis Lachter invited the European champions to make a formal bid for the 28-year-old Russia international this week.

However, there is confusion over whether Lachter still represents Arshavin and it appears suggestions that he could move to Camp Nou are without foundation.

"That is nothing more than a rumour," he told Sport Express.

"I'm an Arsenal player and the only thing I am thinking about is preparing for the new season."

Top league

Arshavin also believes the Premier League remains the best in Europe despite Barca winning the UEFA Champions League and Real Madrid investing heavily this summer.

"If they do not solve the tax issues in England, it's possible that they will see an exodus of stars," he said.

"But, in my view, the Premier League is still the best.

"However, we will find out when we see what happens in the Champions League, of course."
