Marseille midfielder Benoit Cheyrou has insisted he has not received an approach from Aston Villa.
Reports claim Villa boss Martin O'Neill is lining up the Frenchman as a replacement for Gareth Barry, who left for Manchester City earlier this month.
But l'OM boss Didier Deschamps is said to be keen to keep Cheyrou, brother of former Liverpool player Bruno, and the 28-year-old has distanced himself from rumours of an exit.
He told skysports.com: "My contract with Marseille runs until June 2011, so after a difficult season I am currently a Marseillais.
"I want to relax, I have no contacts so far with any club."
